However, following the departure of much of their roster to Invictus Gaming and the retirement of ZSJM, LGD rebuilt under the leadership of Xiao8 with promising rookie Sylar replacing ZSJM as carry. The move which allowed them to once again regain their position as a premier Chinese team, including a 3rd place finish at TI2 which featured a flawless run through the tournament until the Winners' Finals. Retooling their roster going into TI3, they enjoyed a great deal of pre-tournament success but wound up being knocked out in a shockingly early loss to Team Liquid.
More roster changes followed, and their long-time captain Xiao8 finally left the team for Newbee. This iteration of LGD barely escaped the TI4 group stages, but dug deep in the bracket and made top 6. The roster swap after TI4 was perhaps the most dramatic in history, and after several shocking retirements and trades LGD has ended up in their present form. Sylar back in the 1 position and Yao moving from the offlane to mid, they're joined by two veterans in X!! and Faith and one hotshot newbie in InJuly. Can LGD recover from a disappointing past two years and get back on top of China? It starts here at the HyperX D2L.
